Episode # 11: Healing is a Requirement for the Christian

Many believers think being saved is the end of the journey, when really it is just the beginning
2

Is it any wonder why people accuse Christians of being self-righteous when they think being saved means instant healing?

Please do not use the Christian label as a way to act superior to others. Everyone sees through it but more importantly it displeased God.

Your righteousness is a gift of salvation and to think that salvation instantly heals you is to be a little naive.

Yes, God is a miracle worker, but if you’ve had a lot of sin in your life, don’t think it’s going to go away immediately.

Yes, you are forgiven and God forgets your sin, but you may still be behaving as you did before, so remember, all Christians need healing.

Scriptures from the podcast:

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
         Because the LORD has anointed me
         To bring good news to the afflicted;
         He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
         To proclaim liberty to captives
         And freedom to prisoners;

Isaiah 61:1

Psalm 34 - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The righteous person may have many troubles,
    but the Lord delivers him from them all;
he protects all his bones,
    not one of them will be broken.”

Psalm 34:18-20

Psalm 143 - Pray for help from your enemies

“Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
    for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
    lead me on level ground.”

Psalm 143:9-10

Psalm 146 - The Lord loves the righteous

“He upholds the cause of the oppressed
    and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
  the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
    the Lord loves the righteous.”

Psalm 146:7-8

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)
